Don’t be Afraid to Change.
The amount of anglers I hear that are waiting for the weather to change before they go fishing again, especially river anglers.
Don’t be Afraid to Change.
Ok the rivers are low and in some cases the temperature of the water is too high and the oxygen levels are not good to play fish and are best left till we have water or the temperature subsides but there is so much other fishing to do and its even worth a trip down the river to look at the contours and snags in your favourite swims for you will not have a better chance to see the make up of your swim than in these lower than ever conditions.
But there are large reservoirs where the trout are still feeding, admittedly on some waters they are very deep but they can still take a fly or lure.
And remember we are an island surrounded by the sea where there are loads of marks that will hold the likes of Wrasses, bass and pollock and marinas and harbours that hold mullet and bass two great species to catch at this time of year.
The chances are you are taking the family on holidays this month to a costal town or village that will have excellent fishing in the sea, just phone the local tackle shop before you go and ask them what species, tackle and bait

needed for a few hours fishing usually that can be done very early in the morning before the missus and kids are out of bed.
And of course, the carp waters are fishing their heads off and I know most river anglers would rather be on the river than fishing a stillwater but surely if you’re a true angler you would rather fish for carp than not go at all.
I took a couple of lads the other day and they had the time of there lives catching 17 carp up to just short of 20lbs and they are fought like tigers, it was a great day with a lovely warm wind blowing in our faces and the fish feeding really well.
Stop moaning about the weather for its just a great summer and enjoy it for what it is.
