Good Times Ahead

With that drop comes more oxygen in the water and along with the welcomed rainfall of late fish are really starting to feed again.

Whilst the waters have been down and in drought the uncovered areas will have grown grass and started to look like the normal backside and in that area will be lots of food hiding away in the soil and grasses.

Now as the water starts to cover this fertile area the fish will move in and harvest their new source of food and I have taken many big carp in such areas only a few feet from the bank.

These fish will be feeding in water just about deeper than their bodies and its great fun putting a bait further along the bank from a fish you have spotted feeding and working its way along the margins.

A well placed rod only sometimes inches from the bank will catch these fish but make sure you do it now because this feeding spree will not last that long as the water rises quickly.

It will be the same on rivers as the rain water takes the levels back to normal but as I have mentioned before take a look even take some photos of the river in drought conditions for you will never have a better chance to see the contours of your river and the more knowledge of the water the more fish you will catch.

I’m looking forward also this month to casting a fly line for a few big trout as some of my local waters are starting to think about opening their doors again after their summer break and are already stocking with some decent fish to attract the anglers back to the waters, me being one of them.
