Des Taylor’s February Angling Tips

Already Planning for Spring.

Fishing as an allrounder is a constant mix of actual fishing and running alongside this is the actual planning and preparation for the next period of the year and the species I am going to target.

Already Planning for Spring.

This time of year, my fishing is cold water fishing for pike, zander and trout but within a few weeks my attention will swing to Carp, Tench and Bream.

So, its time to get the baits, tackle and associated gear with these species ready for action for its no good waiting till the day before you are going fishing to get that gear ready.

I will also pop down to the venues to take a look because I may not have fished them for months and swims change giving disappointments on the day for there is nothing worse in your mind to find the swim you planned to fish has a massive tree fallen in from the last storm, believe me it happens and you are on the back foot before you even start your session.

Some baits will be prepared and put in the freezer other in the fridge, then rigs tied etc.

This way as soon as you put away the winter gear the spring gear is ready to rock remember sometimes groundwork is better than groundbait.
