Q: How do I make a claim?

There are 3 ways to claim. Access your policy through the members area online and you can log the claim there. Call us and we will take the details from you. Email us on claims@anglingprotect.co.uk This is all detailed within the claims area of the website if you would like further information.

Q: Can I insure expensive rods?

We can insure all makes and model of rods. We do ask that any piece if equipment which includes rods, are specified if they are over £1,000. This means that we ask you to specifically list these at the time of quotation.

Q: Am I covered overseas?

The standard policy is on a worldwide basis so covers you for the value of the kit whilst overseas.

Q: Does the policy cover accidental damage?

Yes, our policy cover is on a full all risks basis which includes accidental damage.

Q: Is my tackle insured in my car?

Yes it is. We insure your fishing kit to the full value of your policy whilst it is in transit to the lake/river/sea and whilst you are setting up or if you stop for refreshments en route as long as the car is locked.

Q: Does home insurance cover fishing equipment?

There isn’t one answer to this question as it very much depends on your home insurance policy; the Insurer and whether you have specifically asked them to extend to insure your fishing equipment. In the majority of home insurance policies there may be some cover for hobby equipment whist locked away in the house or garage. Some policies however will not extend to outbuildings or sheds, or if they do, they limit the value at risk. It is also worth checking where the cover extends to, so for example, some home insurance policies will cover equipment whilst at home but they may exclude it whilst it is in your car or van en route to the fishing lake or river and importantly may not insure it whilst it is being used for fishing or overnight if you are staying in a hut or bivvie. It is for these reasons that it isn’t possible for us to definitively answer yes to this question or indeed no. What we can add however is that where you have specialist hobby equipment whether this is fishing equipment, cycling or skiing for example, it is often desirable to chose to insure this under a specialist policy where you have clarity over the value insured and the extent of insurance. With Angling Protect we ask that you declare the value you require insuring and we are clear that cover extends from the home to the vehicle whilst in transit and then whilst you are fishing – including full overnight cover.

Q: What should I do if a third party makes a claim against me?

Do not admit liability, don’t attempt to settle the claim yourself, and don’t communicate with the claimant without our approval. All you need to do is log in, to the Members area and submit a claim. The process takes just a few minutes and we will contact you within one business day.
